The Mercedes House, at 550 West 54th Street, is the home to a five-story Mercedes-Benz showroom that seeks to capture the glamour of their famous Fifth Avenue showroom that had been designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s also home to a dozen police horses, which are stabled there. But what is really special about the 2009 building, designed by Enrique Norten, is its stepped, reverse “Z” footprint, that gives west-facing river views and generous patios to a maximum number of tenants.
